Description

Tres Leches Cinnamon Rolls – soft, fluffy, and soaked in a creamy three-milk mixture, topped with sweet frosting. The ultimate indulgent dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough

4 cups all-purpose flour

½ cup granulated sugar

1 packet (2¼ teaspoons) instant yeast

1 teaspoon salt

½ cup whole milk (warm)

½ cup unsalted butter (melted)

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Cinnamon Filling

½ cup unsalted butter (softened)

1 cup brown sugar (packed)

2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

Tres Leches Soak

½ cup whole milk

½ cup sweetened condensed milk

½ cup evaporated milk

Frosting

1 cup powdered sugar

12 tablespoons milk (to desired consistency)

Instructions

  1. Activate yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm milk, instant yeast, and 1 tablespoon sugar. Let rest 5–10 minutes until frothy.

  2. Prepare dough: In a large bowl, mix flour, remaining sugar, and salt. Add melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract. Pour in the yeast mixture.

  3. Knead & rise: Knead until smooth and elastic (8–10 minutes). Cover and let rise in a warm spot for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  4. Make filling: In a small bowl, mix softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon until combined.

  5. Shape rolls: Roll dough into a rectangle. Spread filling evenly, roll tightly, and slice into rolls.

  6. Second rise: Place rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for another hour.

  7. Bake: Bake at 350°F (175°C) until golden brown, about 25–30 minutes.

  8. Make tres leches soak: In a bowl, mix whole milk, sweetened condensed milk, and evaporated milk.

  9. Soak rolls: While warm, pour tres leches mixture over baked rolls and let it absorb.

  10. Frost: Whisk powdered sugar with milk until smooth. Drizzle over warm rolls and serve.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg to the cinnamon filling.

The tres leches soak is best poured while the rolls are still warm.
