Irresistible Honey Garlic Shrimp – A 30-Minute Sweet & Savory Favorite

Honey Garlic Shrimp is a quick 15-minute dinner with sweet, sticky sauce, juicy shrimp, and bold garlic flavor—perfect with rice or noodles.

  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

1 lb (450g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined

3 tablespoons honey

3 tablespoons soy sauce (low sodium if preferred)

1 tablespoon fresh garlic, minced

1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated

1 tablespoon olive oil or sesame oil

1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)

2 tablespoons water (if using cornstarch)

Optional: chopped green onions & sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Make the sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, garlic, and ginger. Set aside.

  2. Sear the shrimp: In a skillet over medium-high heat, add oil. Add shrimp and cook 1–2 minutes per side until pink and opaque.

  3. Add the sauce: Pour the honey garlic mixture over the shrimp. Stir to coat evenly.

  4. Thicken if needed: For a thicker sauce, mix cornstarch and water separately, then stir into the pan and cook for 1–2 minutes until glossy.

  5. Serve immediately over rice or noodles. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions if desired.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add 1 teaspoon of sriracha or red pepper flakes to the sauce.

  • Serve over white rice, jasmine rice, noodles, or with stir-fried vegetables.
