Description
Chinese meat pies are crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and packed with savory beef, green onions, and ginger — a perfect snack or meal.
Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
½ cup hot water
¼ cup cold water
200 g ground beef
2 green onions, finely chopped
1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon rice vinegar or lemon juice
1 teaspoon sesame oil
Salt, to taste
Pepper, to taste
Oil, for frying
Instructions
-
Prepare the dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour with hot water and cold water. Knead until smooth, then let it rest for 20 minutes.
-
Make the filling: In another bowl, mix ground beef, green onions, ginger, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, salt, and pepper.
-
Shape the pies: Roll the rested dough into small circles.
-
Place a spoonful of filling in the center of each circle. Fold over and seal the edges tightly.
-
Cook the pies: Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry pies until golden brown on both sides, about 3–4 minutes per side.
-
Serve warm and enjoy as a snack or main dish.
Notes
You can replace ground beef with pork, chicken, or even mushrooms for a vegetarian twist.
For extra crispiness, add a teaspoon of cornstarch to the filling.
These pies can be frozen uncooked and fried later for convenience.
